 Antiflvx - Crucifixio

Campane robotizzate, cortei funebri ammassati, stesse morti da celebrare: tutta questa complessità di elementi si dà appuntamento in questa libellula uccisa, in una canzone manifesto, che vaga per il cielo per farci inchinare. Una roboante rappresentazione elettronica priva di esagerazioni, conquista ogni centimetro del nostro ascolto, per rendere possibile la necessità di prendere in affitto sberle gotiche all’interno di un Synthpop tenebroso e agghiacciante. Tutto scandito, processato, per un effluvio elettrico generoso e terribilmente soffocante: si piange senza sapere, si ascolta godendo, in modo assurdo, perché il brano è un sequestro efficace. L’incedere è terrifico, disumano in quanto nella sua lentezza la canzone scopre ogni nervo del nostro esistere: clamorosa!

Antiflvx - Crucifixion

Robotic bells, massed funeral processions, the same dead to be celebrated: all this complexity of elements comes together in this slain dragonfly, in a manifesto song that wanders the sky to make us bow down. A bombastic electronic performance devoid of exaggerations, it conquers every inch of our listening, to make possible the need to rent gothic slaps within a gloomy and chilling Synthpop. Everything is paced, processed, for a generous and terribly suffocating electric effluvium: one cries without knowing, one listens enjoying, absurdly, because the track is an effective sequestration. The pace is terrifying, inhuman, because in its slowness the song uncovers every nerve of our existence: sensational!

 MAKINA GiRGiR - Tape Songs 

Prendi una collezione di canzoni pubblicate in passato, con due inediti, mettile insieme in un cd e spediscile al cuore: mal che vada sarà estasi. Si gioca con i ritmi, gli effetti, con i campionamenti, con i synth che spaziano seminando dipendenze assortite, sempre all’insegna di una estrema cura del cantato, sensuale, provocante, spesse volte una smorfia delicata di dolori impronunciabili. Come se provenissero da pianeti comunicanti a gesti, senza proferire parole, ecco che le movenze melodiche vengono inumidite con cortesia, attraverso spruzzate Synthpop, nel trambusto di una elettronica con le piume nere. Il combo francese spazia tra incursioni negli anni Ottanta e la consumata abilità di colorare meglio la musica dei giorni nostri con la conseguenza di creare curiosità elettriche nei giorni lavorativi. Sensuale.

 This Moment - Recuerdame EP

Abandonment has a positive meaning, not just a negative one, and when you experience it while listening to an album, time seems like a friend, a brother, an unexpected and unpredictable thank you. This can happen in the middle of a winter afternoon, you find yourself with songs built to make entertainment something serious, to send important messages to the mind to be encrypted. Peruvians This Moment have found a way to make their music sound like a new entity that knows how to move the hands of the clock expertly, delivering nourishing quality. The hypnotic vocals, the obliging electronic scaffolding to operate the centrifuge of legs devoted to gothic dance, give the project a polished and resistant appearance, in which the tracks of industrious and eager synths weld the void to align with the smile of the night, macabre but energetic.

These tracks are flows, images, and you don't need all the diopters to see the love for a world that forty years ago would have decreed them Lords of Dark Synth.

But that's OK: you have a privilege at your disposal, where the real chaos is the irresistible will to turn off time, forever, dancing...

 This Moment - Recuerdame EP

L’abbandono ha una accezione positiva, non solo negativa, e quando lo si vive nell’ascolto di un album il tempo pare un amico, un fratello, un Grazie imprevisto e non prevedibile. Questo può capitare nel bel mezzo di un pomeriggio invernale, ti ritrovi con canzoni costruite per fare dello svago qualcosa di serio, per inoltrare alla mente messaggi importanti da criptare. I Peruviani This Moment hanno trovato la modalità di far sembrare la loro musica una nuova entità che sa come spostare le lancette dell’orologio sapientemente, regalando qualità nutriente. L’ipnotica voce, le impalcature elettroniche servizievoli per adoperare la centrifuga di gambe votate alla danza gotica, conferiscono al progetto un aspetto curato e resistente, nel quale le tracce di synth operosi e vogliosi saldano il vuoto per allinearsi al sorriso della notte, macabra ma energica.

Sono flussi questi brani, immagini, e non occorrono tutte le diottrie per vedere l’amore verso un mondo che quarant’anni fa li avrebbe decretati Signori del  Synth cupo.

Ma va bene così: avete a disposizione un privilegio, dove il vero caos è dato dall’irresistibile volontà di spegnere il tempo, per sempre, danzando…

My Review: Harsh Symmetry - Blind

Harsh Symmetry - Blind

Here he is, Julian Sharwarko, the Californian boy in love with the '80s, able to continue the path of Clan of Xymox first and The Frozen Autumn later, putting out two tracks that give a sense of fullness achieved.

 The maturity already grasped is discharged in the magnetic Blind, the first episode, laden with Synthpop flagellation and a Coldwave verve that unleashes a wacky, rounding dance that is impossible to resist.

The following Ashes shows something different: here the urgency is an electronic protrusion closer to the search for a muffled, slow atmosphere, an inhale of the scent of decadence with hints of Darkwave.

But always with the feeling of the use of filters of melancholy, not to leave us in its entirety. Another piece for us to be able to see his multifaceted ability not to fear entering stylistic expositions sometimes not so close to each other.

The final evaluation is excellent: we have the confirmation of an artist in symbiosis with his design towards a writing capable of arousing interest and passion.

 Harsh Symmetry - Blind

Eccolo, Julian Sharwarko, il ragazzo californiano innamorato degli anni '80, capace di continuare il percorso dei Clan of Xymox prima e dei The Frozen Autumn dopo, mettere in circolo due brani che danno il senso di una pienezza raggiunta.

 La maturità già afferrata è scaricata nella magnetica Blind, il primo episodio, carico di flagellazione Synthpop e una verve Coldwave che scatena una danza stramba e arrotante, alla quale è impossibile resistere.

La successiva Ashes mostra qualcosa di diverso: qui l'urgenza è una sporgenza elettronica più vicina alla ricerca di una atmosfera ovattata, lenta, un inspirare il profumo della decadenza con accenni Darkwave.

Ma sempre con la sensazione dell’uso di filtri di malinconia, per non lasciarcela nella sua interezza. Un altro tassello per noi per poter vedere la sua poliedrica capacità di non temere l’ingresso in esposizioni stilistiche a volte non così prossime le une alle altre.

La valutazione finale è ottima: abbiamo la conferma di un artista in simbiosi con la sua progettazione verso una scrittura capace di suscitare interesse e passione.

 Parasite Baby - Parasite Baby

Numbers have always been one of the old scribe's many interests: he could write a book on the subject. Let it be known that he loves the number three and that the songs he has his eye on have that number. The Chicago band seems to feed on delicious hallucinogenic substances in the vicinity of the delirium of continuous beauty, leading the listener to the place where the decadence of living seems to be a party for craggy, annulled, joyless souls. The chanting vocals, the sparks of the keyboard, the minimalist redundancy of the reverberations induce the listener to dredge up moments of authentic and glorious depression, the kind that is good for the heart. All subtle, nothing exaggerated, a fairytale on a rainy day with three respectful downpours that would like to hide under your coat.

The musical zones expressed are many, skilfully sewn onto the skin of structures that do not ask for pomposity, like a gauge that adjusts measurement. They are songs to be listened to in one's own privacy, with a glass of wine and the desire to exclude the sun's rays: let it be dark then...

Parasite Baby - Parasite Baby

I numeri da sempre rientrano tra gli innumerevoli interessi del vecchio scriba: potrebbe scrivere un libro su questo argomento. Si sappia che lui ama il numero tre e che le canzoni su cui sta mettendo gli occhi hanno quella quantità. La band di Chicago pare nutrirsi di deliziose sostanze allucinogene nei pressi del delirio di bellezza continua, conducendo l’ascoltatore nel luogo nel quale la decadenza del vivere pare un party per anime scoscese e annullate, senza gioia. Il cantato cantilenante, le scintille della tastiera, la ridondanza minimalista dei riverberi induce a ripescare nella memoria momenti di autentica e gloriosa depressione, quella che fa bene al cuore. Tutto sottile, nulla di esagerato, una favola in un giorno di pioggia con tre scrosci rispettosi, che vorrebbero nascondersi sotto il cappotto.

Le zone musicali espresse sono molte, sapientemente cucite sulla pelle di strutture che non chiedono pomposità, come un calibro che regola la misura. Sono canzoni da ascoltare nella propria riservatezza, con un calice di vino e la voglia di escludere i raggi del sole: sia buio allora…

BLACK NAIL CABARET and Friends - Sister Sister (Alternative)

May will come and there is no doubt that we will be subjected to a pleasant shock of continuous emotions, because Woodland Memories will be an axe that, in a gentle way, will cut away everything that our overcrowded auditory system does not need.

To assert something so absolute, maybe the old scribe is wrong, maybe not, but this is the situation: this first track anticipating the album has emphasis sewn into it, a slow-paced intensity that leaves the heart unmoored, as if it had been running and it hadn't.

That’s it.

The magic that defeats preconceptions and banalities.

A poetic attitude, almost explosive, almost dreamlike, almost a lot of things, but then, clutching its neck, you see in its veins stretches of intensity that leave you dumbfounded.

Pop kisses the black, has a non-alcoholic drink with Jazz, with the smoke-filled rooms of a faceless American city, and returns to Hungary, with fingertips pressing on tuned instruments with the flight of a swarm of vibrations one step away from sadness. One is moved, and a saxophone full of glass hidden in the charcoal makes things right: perfection has been represented…

BLACK NAIL CABARET and Friends - Sister Sister (Alternative)

Verrà Maggio e non vi è dubbio che saremo sottoposti a un urto piacevole di emozioni continue, perché Woodland Memories sarà un’ascia che, in modo dolce, taglierà via tutto ciò che non serve al nostro intasato apparato uditivo.

Per affermare qualcosa di così assoluto, forse il vecchio scriba sbaglia, o forse no, ma tant’è: questo primo brano che anticipa l’album ha l’enfasi cucita addosso, un’intensità a ritmo lento che lascia il cuore senza battiti, come se avesse corso e invece no.

Ecco.

La magia che sconfigge i preconcetti e le banalità.

Un fare poetico, quasi esplosivo, quasi onirico, quasi molte cose, ma poi, stringendogli il collo, si vedono nelle sue vene tratti di intensità che lasciano basiti.

Il Pop bacia il nero, si fa un drink analcolico con il Jazz, con i locali pieni di fumo di una città americana senza volto, e ritorna in Ungheria, con i polpastrelli che premono su strumenti accordati con il volo di uno sciame di vibrazioni a un passo dalla tristezza. Ci si commuove, e un sax pieno di vetri nascosti nel carbone dà una botta al cerchio e una alla botte: la perfezione è stata rappresentata…

My Review: Fall Shock - Interior

Fall Shock - Interior

The skilful French label Manic Depression brought this Italian band, formed by Francesco Kay and Markus O, three years ago. Given the backgrounds of the two, so different and apparently so distant, they have produced a capacious, solid album, precise in terms of references and performance methods. They play like a marvel, traversing an important decade (that of the 80s), paying respect to it through research that allows them to add something of their own, to be able to compose songs that are not too gloomy and mannered. In short: the result is an excellent historical compromise that generates a pleasant, gracefully slippery listen, making us spend forty minutes with our heads in the memories, the stimuli of a present to be written and lived, and their hinted Post-Punk, steeped in Synthpop and Synthwave, that knows how to make us dance without having too many thoughts in our heads.

 Fall Shock - Interior

La sapiente Label francese Manic Depression ha portato con sé tre anni fa questa band italiana, formata da Francesco Kay e da Markus O, dando vita, visti i background dei due così diversi e apparentemente lontanissimi, a un album capiente, sodo, preciso per riferimenti e modalità esecutive. Suonano che è una meraviglia, attraversano un decennio importante (quello degli anni '80), tributandogli rispetto attraverso una ricerca che consente di aggiungere qualcosa di proprio, per poter comporre brani che non siano troppo cupi e di maniera. Insomma: il risultato è un ottimo compromesso storico che genera un ascolto piacevole, scivoloso con grazia, facendoci passare quaranta minuti con la testa dentro i ricordi, gli stimoli di un presente da scrivere e da vivere, e il loro Post-Punk accennato, intriso di Synthpop e Synthwave, che sa farci ballare senza avere troppi pensieri per la testa.

My Review: Noeud - La grande évasion

Noeud - La grande évasion

You absent yourself for a while from a project you are part of, and create music on your own, in absolute freedom, and how do you do it? Wonderfully!

MD is a musician with clear ideas and offers us a track with many ambitions in that, in addition to mixing musical genres that are not always related (which he succeeds in very well), he suggests how to develop Synthpop with an evident trace of electric lo-fi, creating a suspension of atmosphere between the notes that is excellent. As the old scribe always says, learning matters more than taste, and here we have it, for a flight that is able to offer a window into the future.

Is it really a great escape or is it rather living in the past to take it all as a departure? I would say that in any case such a song is an example that much is still possible, and with remarkable quality too.
