 The Shallows - Channels 

When a song makes you addicted, you discover the pleasantness of the only acceptable toxicity: that towards music. The Boston band has given birth to a crystalline jewel, which emanates light within our listening. Delicate, gentle, dreamy, with its notes it activates the circuit of our pleasure, of a listening that makes us small because we are cuddled by it. Shoegaze is joined by the elegant Dreampop presence, for a lullaby that in the refrain wakes our minds completely and makes us think that the new day can only be beautiful. The drumming is a work of art, the bassist's work is a black-and-white photograph of how simplicity must once again take over the music, and he does it beautifully. The vocals, then, sound like the perfect marriage of two superstars like Rachel Goswell and Krissy Vanderwoude: the poetry of the singing is the merino wool blanket that can maintain the temperature of this sweetness, which is a slow, deep kiss.

When a song bewitches the mind, we know that we have arrived at a sensational rendezvous: eternity is already possible in this earthly life...

 The Shallows - Channels 

Quando una canzone ti rende dipendente scopri la piacevolezza dell’unica tossicità accettabile: quella nei confronti della musica. La band di Boston ha partorito un gioiello cristallino, che emana luce dentro i nostri ascolti. Delicato, garbato, sognante, con le sue note attiva il circuito del piacere nostro, di un ascolto che ci rende piccoli perché coccolati da questo brano. Lo Shoegaze viene raggiunto dall’elegante presenza Dreampop, per una ninnananna che nel ritornello sveglia del tutto la nostra mente e ci fa pensare che la nuova giornata non potrà che essere bellissima. Il drumming è un’opera d’arte, il lavoro del bassista è la fotografia in bianco e nero di come la semplicità debba tornare ad appropriarsi della musica e lui lo fa benissimo. La voce, poi, sembra il connubio perfetto tra due fuoriclasse come Rachel Goswell e Krissy Vanderwoude: la poesia del canto è la coperta di lana merinos che sa mantenere la temperatura di questa dolcezza, che è un bacio lento e profondo.

Quando una canzone strega la mente sappiamo che siamo arrivati a un appuntamento clamoroso: l’eternità è possibile già in questa vita terrestre…
