 Citrus Clouds - Spacing Out

Le parole viaggiano in un percorso conflittuale, disperdendo il pensiero. Il vecchio scriba non ha dubbi a tal proposito. E quando deve recensire una canzone come questa si rende conto che il proprio vocabolario ha subito un lifting: occorre cercarne uno antico.

La band Americana è un portento, un vascello nelle acque della vita, le purifica e fa brillare i battiti del cuore con la sua formula che prevede un rock che è composto di inclinazioni Shoegaze (come impronte leggere, ma capaci di lasciare tracce immense) e una attitudine Dreampop che riesce a manifestarsi sebbene vi siano chitarre robuste. Un miracolo veloce, un insediamento nel cratere cranico che dona la propensione a una gioia matura, incominciata con il basso e proseguita poi con le stratificazioni di chitarre piene di brio e morbidezza. Se bastasse una sola canzone per descrivere la gioia dell’esistenza sarebbe questa, Vecchio Scriba dixit…

 Citrus Clouds - Spacing Out

Words travel in a conflicting path, scattering thought. The old scribe has no doubt about this. And when he has to review a song like this, he realises that his own vocabulary has undergone a facelift.

The American band is a marvel, a vessel in the waters of life, purifying them and making the heartbeats shine with its formula of a rock that is composed of shoegaze inclinations (like light footprints, but capable of leaving immense traces) and a Dreampop attitude that manages to manifest itself even though there are sturdy guitars. A quick miracle, a settlement in the cranial crater that gives the propensity for mature joy, which began with the bass and continued with the layering of guitars full of brio and softness. If one song were enough to describe the joy of existence, this would be it, Old Scribe dixit...

 Walleater- Money Where Your Mouth Is

The Noise/Fuzz community is increasingly feeding on stimuli from distances never thought accessible. The Leeds band is exceptional in this respect, able to be fluid in its dynamism, and this song fully demonstrates this, like a serious game that amazes as it enriches with its contribution to the development of new possibilities. The opening bass is from the history of the instrument, then what you hear condenses into a sensuality that comes through the singing and the wah wah of the guitar, which makes everything sound so beautifully from the seventies. The lyrics are a mature list of desires and actions, with a deep irony that is conveyed from afar. The song is a perfect bridge: we move through time and the music gives the confidence that we are listening to a small diamond rolling around inside our brains...

 Walleater- Money Where Your Mouth Is

La comunità Noise/Fuzz si sta sempre più nutrendo di stimoli che provengono da distanze mai credute accessibili. La band di Leeds, sotto questo aspetto, è eccezionale, capace di essere fluida nella sua dinamicità e questa canzone lo dimostra pienamente, come un gioco serio che stupisce, perché arricchisce grazie al suo contributo nello sviluppo di nuove possibilità. Il basso iniziale è da storia dello strumento, poi ciò che si ascolta si condensa in una sensualità che passa attraverso il cantato e il wah wah della chitarra, che fa sembrare ogni cosa così splendidamente proveniente dagli anni Settanta. Il testo è un maturo elenco di desideri e di azioni, con una profonda ironia che viene trasmessa da lontano. Il brano è un ponte perfetto: ci si sposta nel tempo e la musica conferisce la sicurezza che stiamo ascoltando un piccolo diamante che rotola dentro il nostro cervello…

 ivy z - let yours be the last burning heart

Where is the sweetness, the sweetness that lives in the intimacy of fragility?

In the utterly gifted pen of a Czech girl, in her voice that is a polite assault on indifference, in her stubborn shyness that disappears when her music delivers to us a talent that discourages bitterness, totally.

While his new single has just been released, the old scribe talks to you about the album released on 3 February.

A mirage that pulses Lo-Fi, slips into Slowcore, paints its face with refined pop and makes time to throw feathers of elegant Dreampop here and there, to compact a play of colours on a canvas that breathes cumulonimbuses of continuous enchantment.

One is moved on tiptoe, moving the curtains and gazing at the sky: she is there writing songs about the poisonous chemtrails she dissolves with her singing that is a kiss of angels corrupted by her beauty, first...

Ivy is serious, capable, anachronistic but stubborn. Her hinted guitar is just one of the thousands of caresses the music offers us: we don't have to do anything, just silence and half-closed eyes, and the clouds will grant us the privilege of dancing on their backs, as we all together give the feather-voiced girl the most radiant of hugs...

 ivy z - let yours be the last burning heart

Dov’è la dolcezza, quella che vive nell’intimità della fragilità?

Nella penna assolutamente dotata di una ragazza Ceca, nella sua voce che è un'aggressione educata all'indifferenza, nella sua ostinata timidezza che sparisce quando la sua musica consegna a noi un talento che scoraggia l’amarezza, totalmente.

Mentre è stato appena pubblicato il suo nuovo singolo, il vecchio scriba vi parla dell’album uscito il 3 Febbraio scorso.

Un miraggio che pulsa Lo-Fi, scivola nello Slowcore, si dipinge il volto con un pop raffinato e fa in tempo a buttare qua e là piume di un elegantissimo Dreampop, per compattare un gioco di colori su una tela che respira cumulonembi di incanto continuo.

Ci si commuove in punta di piedi, si spostano le tende e si guarda il cielo: lei è lì a scrivere canzoni sulle velenose scie chimiche che scioglie con il suo cantato che è un bacio di angeli corrotti dalla sua bellezza, per primi…

Ivy è seria, capace, anacronistica ma ostinata. La sua chitarra accennata è solo una delle migliaia di carezze che le musiche ci offrono: non dobbiamo fare niente, solo silenzio e occhi socchiusi, e le nuvole ci concederanno il privilegio di danzare sulla loro schiena, mentre tutti insieme daremo alla ragazza dalla voce di piuma il più radioso degli abbracci…

Billy Zach - A Momentary Bliss

The Hamburg worshipped by the old scribe is back, in a powerful, overbearing, perfect, unequivocal way, through a band that is a prodigy to spread, not to do so would be a mortal offence, given the talent, dedication, skill and propensity to write sheets of musical notes full of eye-popping scratches.

Nine sabre-rattling, nine croaky-sounding factories, nine punches in the stomach, with the style of those who wear genius to deny the distance between those who really are and those who cannot even dream of it.

An excellent record, nervous, full of thorns, spits, kicks, complex but simply perfect for enjoying its compounds that melt into our thoughts and our legs dancing like splinters without consciousness. The songs do it all beautifully, connecting and disconnecting emotional tension, showing how Post-Punk and Noise have something to share, a dialogue that reveals flames of enjoyment and annihilates Alternative's attempts to try and eat from the same plate. 

One gets the distinct feeling that the band's central nervous system is tuned up with the desire to demonstrate how others, who are succeeding, perhaps do not possess this range of sonic, compositional possibilities, where the balance between talent and design ends in a nice draw. There are no tracks to be preferred but a continuous listening, an eating of German lead on days of fatigue...

 Billy Zach - A Momentary Bliss

L’Amburgo adorata dal vecchio scriba torna, in modo potente, prepotente, perfetto, inequivocabile, attraverso una band che è un prodigio da diffondere, il non farlo sarebbe un reato mortale, visto il talento, la dedizione, la bravura e la propensione a scrivere fogli di note musicali piene di graffi che esaltano gli occhi.

Nove sciabolate, nove fabbriche dal suono gracido, nove pugni nello stomaco, con lo stile di chi indossa il genio per negare la distanza tra chi lo è davvero e chi non può nemmeno sognarlo.

Un disco eccellente, nervoso, pieno di spine, sputi, calci, complesso ma semplicemente perfetto per godere dei suoi composti che si sciolgono nei nostri pensieri e nelle nostre gambe che danzano come schegge senza coscienza. Le canzoni fanno tutto loro magnificamente, connettono e disconnettono la tensione emotiva, dimostrando come il Post-Punk e il Noise abbiano qualcosa da spartirsi, un dialogo che rivela fiamme di godimento e annichilisce i tentativi dell’Alternative di provare a mangiare dallo stesso piatto. 

Si ha la sensazione netta che il sistema nervoso centrale della band sia sintonizzato con il desiderio di dimostrare come altre, che stanno avendo successo, forse non posseggano questo range di possibilità sonore, compositive, in cui il bilanciamento tra il talento e la progettualità finisce con un bel pareggio. Non ci sono brani da preferire ma un ascolto continuo, un mangiare il piombo tedesco nei giorni di fatica…

stay lunar - I Like It When You're Around

Just how much the old scribe loves this kind of song is no mystery: the band from Bristol returns with their mixture of Dreampop and barely noticeable Noise with a fresh track, enchanting for the skilful cheerfulness it manages to convey, making us smile and lose ourselves in a dance caused by a perfect rhythm, with the ups and downs of the criss-crossing guitars that are majestic and the singing that sticks in the head. After the Stop and Go, the finale becomes a subtle noise, finally dragging the listener into a moving demonstration that these guys know how to take care of us.

That's what we need: to meet someone who opens the rays of sunshine for us....

 stay lunar - I Like It When You’re Around

Quanto il vecchio scriba ami questo tipo di canzoni non è un mistero: la band di Bristol torna con la sua miscela di Dreampop e Noise appena accennato con un brano fresco, incantevole per la sapiente allegria che riesce a trasmettere, facendoci sorridere e perdere in una danza causata da un ritmo perfetto, con i sali e scendi delle chitarre incrociate che sono maestose e il cantato che si fissa nella testa. Dopo lo Stop and Go, il finale si fa sottilmente Noise, trascinando definitivamente l’ascolto in una commovente dimostrazione che questi ragazzi sanno prendersi cura di noi.

Ecco di cosa abbiamo bisogno: di incontrare qualcuno che apra i raggi di sole per noi…
