My Review: Scimitar - Desire

Scimitar - Desire

The love that gives you strength is the same love that kills you: if it is what you receive and not what you give, the result can only be that.

You listen to the American group's latest single and you are upside down, you reflect on this in that position dancing with just your hands, while everything is red-hot, boiling, consuming your soul.

Stunning example of how Post-Punk seems to be punished, overloaded with far-flung structures for a seemingly impossible coexistence and instead...

Instead, we witness a nocturnal glow inside a forest, which improvises to host a gothic rave party. The opening guitars, splendid, deceive: a few seconds later, starting with a bass that seems to swell with plastic in order not to hurt itself, everything proceeds in a luminous wake of corrosive movements, almost close to a violent sexual act, with the voice sounding like a cross between Siouxsie and Bettina Köster. And the sound system, in the midst of the melodic one reduced to the bone, becomes a phonetic ancestral call, dispersing our defences...Extraordinary!
