My Review: The True Faith - Go To Ground

The True Faith - Go To Ground

Three Americans, from one of the oldest cities in the United States, led by Travis Benson, arrive at their second Lp, again for the remarkable “à La Carte Records” label, with a work that is resounding in its intensity and beauty, with splashes of distorted nocturnal poetry, embellished by steep runs towards the centre of emotions with nine bullets, not blanks, to reap victims in a state of adoration, capable of accepting such a beautiful death. After settling the line-up, which since the debut Ep As Much Nothing As Possible has done nothing but grow in determination, specifying its range, we find ourselves before one of the best albums of 2023, without any doubt. Compact, heavy and surgical, devoted to making Post-Punk the basis of petals smelling of death and disgust, the compositions live on convincing gothic alienations, capable of allowing an enjoyment that seems to embrace the era of regret and nostalgia. They are stabs, masses of sound like incandescent liquid metal, a cough that infects but cures as the fascination with the dark area of music is the salvation for many. As it is for the old scribe. The instruments in this work are toxins of delirium constantly exhibited, programmed to rage and anaesthetise doubts: all the songs swim in the reflections, in the scratches, like an echo which is a mouthpiece of absolute truths that cannot be hidden. With a production that exalts the power and voracious desire to give rhythm a propulsive force, the bass lines are multiple, temporal and unstoppable, the guitars are weed and hemlock in copious doses, the drums a truck that conquers and creates vital space in the dances. A resounding and effective album for what it can bring to the music. And bows are in order.
