Stella Diana - Sleepless Girl
While waiting, one might feel the obstacle of passivity, hope and trust: not enormous obstacles, but difficulties to be managed with care and skill.
And then, thankfully, everything vanishes and what was expected arrives.
This is the case for the trio Stella Diana who, almost four years after their last album 57, anticipate the release of the next Nothing to Expect with the single Sleepless Girl, which confirms their attitude to melodies that are attached in the mind and amaze with their ability to create a song ending which shifts the imagination and destination that the previous minutes had created.
Echoes of the Cure from the Faith period make our heart skip beats, but what really makes us happy is the personality and style of the three who, with a guitar full of personality, an extremely effective bass and a simple but spectacular-sounding drumming envelop us like a fog with melancholic skin.
Dario Ardias Thorre with his vocals hypnotises and at the same time reassures us by giving us an effective melodic line to pilot our dreams.
The keyboards appear with brief touches and sublimate the verse.
In the chorus the music turns on the ancient Shoegaze DNA and it is a sudden and healthy explosion.
And that explosion of guitars like dripping wax remains in the next verse.
Then a short guitar solo puts Dreampop and Shoegaze under its arm for short, intense seconds.
The end consists of the last 73 seconds and is a sound ritual, an act of witnessing the fog that has concluded its journey, the sounds become dilated and the bass raises its voice, the guitar becomes a fan to make us end the listening in full ecstasy.
With such a premise, the new album has all it takes to reaffirm our love for them and to stun us with necessary beauty.
