 Glaring - Things Left In The Past

Anna Nin has to be cloned: whether she makes her own songs or covers, one is always certain that a fairy with tousled hair draws poems on the backs of branches. Her Dark-Ambient is a cradle for dreamlike zones that wander through Post-Punk in search of a shake, a thrill, with Synth driving the music towards the mid-1990s. Germany once again sits on the throne and watches its sons continue the story, with precise exercises in dedication to work and grams of fun. The latter comes with the second track, a cover that cuddles the original and confirms how those hands know how to caress our hearts...

 Glarin - Things Left In The Past

Anna Nin bisogna clonarla: che faccia canzoni sue o cover, si ha sempre la certezza che una fata con i capelli scompigliati disegni poesie sulla schiena dei rami. Il suo Dark-Ambient è una culla per zone oniriche che vagano nel Post-Punk per cercare uno scuotimento, un brivido, con il Synth che pilota la musica verso la metà degli anni Novanta. La Germania ancora una volta si siede sul trono e guarda i figli continuare la storia, con esercizi precisi di dedizione al lavoro e grammi di divertimento. Quest’ultimo arriva con la seconda traccia, una cover che coccola l’originale e ci conferma come quelle mani sappiano accarezzare i nostri cuori…

Crooked Mouth -Between The Fool And The Magician 

Che belle le anime che viaggiano per mettere le piccole pietre sotto le loro scarpe e grandi pensieri nei loro battiti.

Ian Campbell è una di quelle: preso il necessario, è partito dal suo Canada e se n’è andato in Lituania, a civilizzare i suoi desideri, per incontrare persone che potessero essere nuovi trasmettitori, nuovi laghi con pesci saltellanti e gioiosi dentro una nuova coscienza.

Ed ecco che il risultato è un album favoloso, pieno di oscillazioni folk, tinteggiato di ombre e storie per mille voci che si alzano in cielo.

Personaggi per un viaggio nel viaggio al fine di far nascere nell’ascoltatore emozioni in attesa e poi, lentamente, fuoriuscire. Stratagemmi, trucchi medievali forse, di sicuro si respira l’aria della spiritualità con la luce accesa: tutto è visibile oltre che udibile ed è necessario sottolineare come questo vapore si alzi dalle pianure per sfiorare la collina dei nostri pensieri, sospesi, a volte anche un po’ preoccupati, in quanto esiste sempre una quota di certezza che si certifica nell’aspettare fragori improvvisi…

Il clima autunnale permane per tutto il disco, e parrebbe di ascoltare una vicenda complessa, con un labirinto continuo nella mente del protagonista che si getta come un’eco all’interno dei nostri sentieri mentali.

Abbiamo la sensazione di sentire in certi momenti alcuni protagonisti del Neo-Folk fumare il calumet della pace, sotto coperte pregne di whiskey. 

Quote di immaginifica dolcezza circondano questi strumenti assemblati per far arrivare alle nuvole i loro bisogni di espandere i limiti in alto e tutto questo fa sì che nell’album ci sia una corsa verso una spiritualità che separi la mente dal corpo, perché il secondo non sa volare.

Ian è coraggioso, deciso, elegante, legato alla tradizione Folk americana, ma consapevole che il suo viaggio doveva portare all’acquisto di idee nuove e tutto ciò accade, non per magia bensì per la sua mente aperta. La magia invece la si sente e la si vede mentre le nove composizioni attraversano la nostra concentrazione, che rischia notevolmente di diventare adorazione. Il suono è caldo, i brividi sono quelli emotivi, e tiepido è l’amore che rimane sulla pelle dopo aver portato questo lavoro nel circondario dei nostri respiri.

 Crooked Mouth -Between The Fool And The Magician 

How beautiful are the souls who travel to put small stones under their shoes and big thoughts in their beats.

Ian Campbell is one of those: he took what was necessary, left his Canada and went to Lithuania, to civilise his desires, to meet people who could be new transmitters, new lakes with jumping, joyful fish inside a new consciousness.

And the result is a fabulous album, full of folk oscillations, tinged with shadows and stories for a thousand voices that rise to the sky.

Characters for a voyage within a voyage to make emotions rise in the listener as they wait and then, slowly, emerge. Stratagems, medieval tricks perhaps, for sure we breathe the air of spirituality with the light on: everything is visible as well as audible and it is necessary to emphasise how this vapour rises from the plains to touch the hill of our thoughts, suspended, at times even a little worried, as there is always a quota of certainty that is certified in the expectation of sudden fragrances...

The autumnal atmosphere lingers throughout the record, and we seem to be listening to a complex affair, with a continuous labyrinth in the mind of the protagonist, which throws itself like an echo into our mental paths.

We have the sensation of hearing at certain moments some Neo-Folk protagonists smoking the pipe of peace, under whiskey-filled blankets. 

Quotas of imaginative sweetness surround these instruments assembled to make the clouds reach their need to expand their limits upwards, and all this makes for a race in the album towards a spirituality that separates the mind from the body, because the latter cannot fly.

Ian is brave, decisive, elegant, bound to the American Folk tradition, but aware that his journey had to lead to the acquisition of new ideas and this happens, not by magic but by his open mind. Instead, the magic can be heard and seen as the nine compositions pass through our concentration, which is in considerable danger of becoming adoration. The sound is warm, the chills are emotional, and tepid is the love that lingers on the skin after taking this work into the surrounds of our breaths.
