What is attraction? Where does it lead us? What makes us lose, rightly so, of useless things? Questions that sow wisdom are never enemies. They only need caresses and closeness.

Listen to the album by André Grafert, the German artist who chose the name Coloured Tears for his intriguing project: six waves full of melodies and lightness between melancholy and tenderness. Thirty-eight years after the beginning of his career, here comes his stylistic and qualitative culmination with an album that, spanning musical genres with which he has grown, has managed to put his signature against a gathering of irresistible songs. Sensuality runs through every second (a Bryan Ferry discussing suffering and remedies with David Sylvian), along with the feeling that he can make his voice an emotional portal with simplicity, without frills. Also endowed with immense capabilities is the music, a blend of Synthpop polite not to disturb and not to seek applause, but rather attention and respect. 

The guitars, however, appear and are faithful butlers of the tiny work that ultimately serves to appreciate the whole. Perhaps there is a darkwave soul somewhere, and if there is, in its mystery perhaps it is hidden so as not to take too much credit, because everything slips away perfectly within a feeling that these are songs with a pop soul put on the sill, to be displayed with harmony and sensitivity. To top it all off: a record like this is a gift to keep in bed, you have to give it attention and sleep with it, in perfect solitude...

Cos’è l’attrazione? Dove ci conduce? Cosa ci fa perdere, giustamente, delle cose inutili? Le domande che seminano saggezza non sono mai nemiche. Abbisognano solo di carezze e vicinanza.Ascolti l’album di André Grafert, l’artista tedesco che ha scelto il nome di Coloured Tears, per il suo intrigante progetto: sei onde piene di melodie e di leggerezza tra malinconia e tenerezza. Trentotto anni dopo l’inizio della sua carriera, ecco arrivare la sua summa stilistica e qualitativa con un disco che, spaziando tra generi musicali con cui si è sviluppata la sua crescita, è riuscito a mettere la firma grazie a una adunata di canzoni irresistibili. La sensualità attraversa ogni secondo (un Bryan Ferry che discorre con David Sylvian di sofferenza e rimedi), insieme alla sensazione che lui possa fare della sua voce un portale emotivo con semplicità, senza fronzoli. Dotata di capacità immense è anche la musica, miscela di Synthpop educato a non disturbare e a non cercare applausi, bensì attenzione e rispetto.

 Le chitarre però appaiono e sono maggiordomi fedeli di quel lavoro minuscolo che alla fine serve per apprezzare il tutto. Forse esiste un’anima Darkwave da qualche parte e, se c’è, nel suo mistero forse si nasconde per non prendersi troppo merito, perché tutto scivola via perfettamente dentro una sensazione che siano canzoni con l’anima Pop messa sul davanzale, da esibire con armonia e sensibilità. Per completare il tutto: un disco come questo è un dono da tenere nel letto, bisogna dargli  attenzioni e dormirci insieme, in perfetta solitudine…
