 Cruush - Stick in the Mud / Sombre by the Weekend

Playing at home, if you have to write about music and the city is Manchester (England), is a beautiful and simple act, given the multitude of good offerings and many of them powerful, to the delight of the old scribe who is excited and satisfied.

If we then talk about Cruush, a quartet dedicated to a splendid exercise in combining shoegaze with an alternative that spans its boundaries, then the result can only be enchanting.

They churn out songs with great ease and their latest Single reveals how hard work and talent do not struggle to produce stout, sinuous textures.

Stick in the Mud is a collection of searching shards of light, a collision between shoegaze stylings and the possibilities of introducing multifaceted alternative patterns to deliver sensitive, nourishing guitars to the listener.  Amber Warren's voice is perfectly capable of raising the hairs of the skin with its angelic vocal that reminds us how certain strings are the expression of absolute grace. Her guitar and Arthur Boyd's guitar create whirlwinds of notes that are perfectly noisy, rebellious, magnetic, with a loop that enchants. 

With Sombre by the Weekend we witness the approach of Dreampop flamboyance and the cohabitation of a celestial stop-and-go exercise capable of bestowing poetry and serenity.

Two tracks that see Will Milton's bass revealing all the sweetness and at the same time the strength to recall the astonishment of a predisposition to protect the notes of the whole band, and Fotis Kalantzis' drumming secure, energetic, perfect.

Lockdown was the driving force behind these songs and it must be acknowledged that sparks of wonder-coloured life can often arise from difficulties.

This combo of compositions deserves your listening and the whole thing will be a kiss in the clouds satisfied with the city that continues to produce goodies upon goodies…

 Cruush - Stick in the Mud / Sombre by the Weekend

Giocare in casa, se devi scrivere di musica e la città è Manchester (Inghilterra), è un atto bellissimo e semplice, vista la moltitudine di proposte valide e molte delle quali poderose, per la felicità del vecchio scriba che è eccitato e soddisfatto.

Se poi si parla dei Cruush, un quartetto dedito a un esercizio splendido nell’unire lo Shoegaze a un Alternative che spazia nei suoi confini, allora il risultato non può che risultare incantevole.

Sfornano canzoni con grande facilità e l’ultimo single rivela come il lavoro e il talento non fatichino a produrre trame corpulente e sinuose.

Stick in the Mud è la collezione di schegge di luce in cerca di sguardi, una collisione tra gli stilemi Shoegaze e le possibilità di introdurre schemi poliedrici Alternative per regalare all’ascolto chitarre sensibili e nutrienti.  La voce di Amber Warren è perfettamente in grado di alzare i peli della pelle con la sua vocazione angelica che ci ricorda come certe corde siano l’espressione della grazia assoluta. La sua chitarra e quella di Arthur Boyd creano mulinelli di note perfettamente rumorose, ribelli, magnetiche, con un loop che incanta. 

Con Sombre by the Weekend assistiamo all’avvicinamento di fiammate Dreampop e alla coabitazione di un celestiale esercizio di uno stop and go capace di regalare poesia e serenità.

Due brani che vedono il basso di Will Milton rivelare tutta la dolcezza e al contempo la forza per richiamare lo stupore di una predisposizione a proteggere le note di tutta la band e il drumming di Fotis Kalantzis sicuro, energetico, perfetto.

Il lockdown è stato il motore di queste canzoni e bisogna riconoscere che spesse volte da delle difficoltà possono nascere scintille di vita color meraviglia.

Questo combo di composizioni merita il vostro ascolto e il tutto risulterà essere un bacio tra le nuvole soddisfatte della città che continua a produrre chicche su chicche…
