My Review: Dark Narrows - My Last Party

Dark Narrows - My Last Party

Here are the shadows of Maryland encircling the wind and bringing crumbs of electrified post-punk to the shores of a pulsing call. They return, enchant, chill breaths, tergiversate, and lead our listening on a leash to the earthly field of continuous, amplified spasms.

The need to affirm the identity of sound passes through stratagems that employ electronics as a putative father, the governing of impulse with the schematic school that right in the heart of Maryland (1978) had shown a new way forward.

Musical notes like gothic sweat moving on keyboards oxygenated by restlessness and bewilderment, circular, never mutant, always constant, travelling within themselves.

How far have these guys come? Perhaps you may have heard their magnificent cover of Desire, by The Sound. Well: in this disc you will hear their steps become authoritative, disengaged from comparisons, from the need for affirmations, and instead find a wrapping with their sound, rhythm, melodic traits that are absolutely delicious and whose importance must be recognised. A growing band, ranging and sowing pulses full of fermenting liquids that stop the discomfort of living, telling it like it is. Thus we find highly muscular uprisings, hydrating systems of rebellion that find in the guitar loops great forests to take in, with the bass pulling slaps and cleaning up the misunderstandings of stupid comparisons. It is a spectacular album, a soulful voice that overthrows identity on melodic lines that are always reduced to the bone, a sublime diet that empties and detoxifies listening from any drift composed of stupid excesses.

My Last Party is not made up of episodes, but of a strategic line given by a summa that expands and forms a nucleus on which everything that enters becomes polite and relevant: there are few who do this and they do it damn well!

Everything is electric discharge, beat after beat that informs and kneads ideas and needs in order to launch an attack that, compulsive and atrocious, makes this work an absolute gem...

Dark Narrows - My Last Party

Ecco le ombre del Maryland circondare il vento e portare briciole di Post-Punk elettrificato sulle sponde di un richiamo che si fa pulsante. Tornano, incantano, raffreddano i respiri, tergiversano, e conducono i nostri ascolti a guinzaglio nel campo terrestre di spasmi continui, amplificati.

Il bisogno di affermare l’identità del suono passa attraverso stratagemmi che impiegano l’elettronica come padre putativo, il governare l’impulso con la scuola schematica che proprio nel cuore del Maryland (1978) aveva mostrato una nuova strada percorribile.

Note musicali come sudore gotico in movimento su tastiere ossigenate da inquietudini e smarrimenti, circolari, mai mutanti, sempre costanti, in viaggio dentro di sé.

Quanta strada hanno fatto questi ragazzi? Magari potreste aver sentito la loro cover, magnifica, di Desire, dei The Sound. Ebbene: in questo disco sentirete i loro passi divenire autorevoli, sganciati da paragoni, da necessità di affermazioni, e trovare invece un involucro con il loro suono, ritmo, tratti melodici assolutamente prelibati e di cui è necessario riconoscere l’importanza. Una band in crescita, che spazia e semina pulsioni pregne di liquidi in fermentazione che fermano il disagio del vivere, raccontandolo come prima scelta. Troviamo quindi sommosse altamente muscolari, sistemi idratanti di ribellioni che trovano nei loop della chitarra grandi foreste di cui prendere visione, con il basso che tira sberle e pulisce gli equivoci di stupide comparazioni. Un album spettacolare, una voce dell’anima che rovescia l’identità su linee melodiche sempre ridotte all’osso, una dieta sublime che svuota e disintossica l’ascolto da ogni deriva composta da stupidi eccessi.

My Last Party non è fatto di episodi, bensì di una linea strategica data da una summa che si dilata e forma un nucleo su cui tutto ciò che entra in noi si fa educato e rilevante: sono in pochi a fare questo e loro lo fanno maledettamente bene!

Tutto è scarica elettrica, un beat dopo beat che informa e impasta idee e bisogni per sferrare un attacco che, compulsivo e atroce, fa di questo lavoro una gemma assoluta…
