 Rotoskop - You & Me (Rotersand Rework)

Quando una buona canzone, venendo rielaborata, mixata, cresce ancora, allora intendi bene cosa possano fare gli artisti quando si guardano, si studiano e decidono di dare il lasciapassare a questa modalità. È accaduto con questi due Pesi Massimi: Rotersand e Rotoskop. Il brano in questione entra nello spazio, una navicella che sconvolge le traiettorie degli oggetti di questo universo, che era chiaramente in attesa di danzare cantando su una melodia figlia degli anni Novanta. Synth, campionatori, trucchi elettronici, e il precipizio diventa pianura, il buio un raggio di sole e tutto scorre, velocemente, come la lettura di un romanzo pornografico. Estasi moderata, e poi libera di farci sorridere, in quel buio che finalmente non è più solo…

 Tympanon Toph - Return to the Eternal Magma 2

A world full of lights, vibrating, trembling, light up in the darkness of a Dark Electro of Colombian provenance, to annex new worshippers, in a sound circus where everything is cloaked in a sensation of loss that captivates unabashedly. Three elaborate songs, full of South American toxins with a European embrace, for a global completeness that makes the listener satisfied for fifteen minutes of urban madness. EBM crumbs enter these electronic hallucinations and it is marasmus, delirium, jubilation that establishes complete adoration. Loop-seeking attitudes disappear. The band reasons on the concept of expansion and everything benefits from it, with changes of atmosphere, of images, of rhythm for a triumph of beauty to be proclaimed...

 Tympanon Toph - Retorno al magma Eterno 2

Un mondo pieno di luci, vibranti, tremanti, si accendono nel buio di una Dark Electro di Colombiana provenienza, per annettere nuovi fedeli, in un circo sonoro dove tutto è ammantato da una sensazione di perdita che affascina senza freni. Tre canzoni elaborate, pregne di tossine sudamericane con un abbraccio europeo, per una completezza globale che rende appagato l’ascoltatore per quindici minuti di follia urbana. Briciole EBM entrano in queste allucinazioni elettroniche ed è marasma, delirio, tripudio che stabilisce l’adorazione completa. Le attitudini alla ricerca del loop scompaiono. La band ragiona sul concetto di espansione e tutto ne trae giovamento, con cambi di atmosfera, di immagini, di ritmo per un tripudio di bellezza da conclamare…

 Haunt Me - All Things Turn Grey

Haunt Me are fertile, capable, unstoppable, a magnet that attracts the need to create satellites of vapour-filled notes, in a faithful sound circuit within Post-Punk that is married to the not too exuberant Gothic Rock, establishing a perfect harmony. Three episodes, a succession of quality, addictive frustration and pain that are here pampered by wisdom and the will to cherish it all for eternity. One finds oneself dancing, knowing that nothing will be the same as before: one dives into circular, almost archaic guitars and consequently loaded with references to which we are fond of. This is not a nostalgic operation: you can tell by the singing, the arrangements, the desire to anaesthetise certain clichés that might have made you tired. Instead, we find ourselves celebrating the harmony, the fluidity, the oil running through songs that arouse respect and curiosity. More down-to-earth than some over-celebrated bands of the 1980s, the American combo demonstrates balance and ponderation, for a total beam of gothic light that can warm the head towards stimulating thoughts...

 Haunt Me - All Things Turn Grey

Gli Haunt Me sono fertili, capaci, inarrestabili, un magnete che attrae il bisogno di creare satelliti di note piene di vapore, in un circuito sonoro fedele all’interno del Post-Punk che si trova sposato al Gothic Rock non troppo esuberante, stabilendo un’armonia perfetta. Tre gli episodi, una successione di qualità, di dipendenza dalla frustrazione e dal dolore che qui vengono coccolati dalla sapienza e dalla volontà di custodire il tutto per l’eternità. Ci si ritrova a ballare sapendo che nulla sarà come prima: ci si tuffa in chitarre circolari, quasi arcaiche e conseguentemente cariche di riferimenti a cui siamo affezionati. Non è un’operazione nostalgica: lo capisci dal cantato, dagli arrangiamenti, dal voler anestetizzare alcuni cliché che avrebbero potuto stancare. Ci troviamo invece a celebrare l’armonia, la fluidità, il petrolio che corre dentro brani che suscitano rispetto e curiosità. Più concreto di alcune band troppo celebrate negli anni Ottanta, il combo americano dimostra equilibrio e ponderazione, per un fascio totale di luce gotica che può scaldare la testa verso pensieri ricchi di stimoli…

My Review: Shrouds - Grimoire

 Shrouds - Grimoire

What a positive and liberating flow: the old scribe waited for this album as one waits for days full of joy! And now the latter is well and truly in his veins. A killer work, a sweep that sweeps away so much of the approximation that has been coming out in recent months. Instead, the Californian band decides that it is the intelligence, commitment, study and quality of songs born to become a cave inside our minds that find form and place.

The musical genres present are a gothic rainbow, arms that allow the various currents to create space and make love, in a way where collectivity is the watchword.

The list includes: Post-Punk, Deathrock, Darkwave, the triad that kills the doubts, the false propensities for joy and that can and will still shock, as effect and not cause. A swarm of grievous notes that weigh down the breath and confirm that part of the United States capable of not denying its own DNA: it is a lament at the foot of sacredness, a mass without religion that condemns sins and saves sinners, in a truly astounding moral exercise.

The guitars abound with lamentations, they are swans screaming and flying in the vibrations of the bass, to slip into human disaster. The drumming is a boulder that crumbles nerves and shakes, shakes, shakes until it hurts. One must be predisposed to silence with this artistic design: the woman with the scythe has made a contract and these sonic oscillations are a splendid noose around our necks...

La mia Recensione: Shrouds - Grimoire

 Shrouds - Grimoire

Che flusso positivo e liberatorio: il vecchio scriba attendeva questo album così come si aspettano giornate piene di gioia! E ora quest’ultima è ben collocata dentro le sue vene. Un lavoro micidiale, una scopa che spazza via tanta di quella approssimazione che in questi ultimi mesi sta uscendo. La band Californiana invece decide che sia l’intelligenza, l’impegno, lo studio e la qualità di canzoni nate per divenire una grotta dentro le nostre menti a trovare forma e luogo.

I generi musicali presenti sono un arcobaleno gotico, braccia che consentono alle varie correnti di creare spazio e di fare l’amore, in una modalità in cui la collettività è la parola d’ordine.

L’elenco prevede: Post-Punk, Deathrock, Darkwave, la triade che uccide i dubbi, le false propensioni al gaudio e che può e vuole ancora sconvolgere, come effetto e non come causa. Uno sciame di grevi note che appesantiscono il fiato e confermano quella parte degli Stati Uniti capace di non negare il proprio DNA: è un lamento ai piedi della sacralità, una messa senza religione che condanna i peccati e salva i peccatori, in un esercizio morale davvero stupefacente.

Le chitarre abbondano di lamentele, sono cigni che urlano e volano nelle vibrazioni del basso, per scivolare nel disastro umano. Il drumming è una masso che sbriciola i nervi e scuote, scuote, scuote sino a fare male. Occorre saper essere predisposti al silenzio con questo disegno artistico: la donna con la falce ha stipulato un contratto e queste oscillazioni sonore sono uno splendido cappio al nostro collo…
