Songs with a built-in headache seek a hospital, that is, our listening, to be embraced. These are the ones on this extraordinary EP, without a shadow of a doubt the best from the Illinois band, here displaying circus skills, with a spectacular display of qualities that are specified in credibility, in a commitment that shows creations which are able to shake, to stir, to build a place to cherish them.The seeds are Post-Punk, the branches Darkwave, the leaves Coldwave, and the heart is an emotional screen separating sadness from disquiet, for an enchanting time very well spent: delightfully American attitudes meet in a British context, for a victory of compositions that dilate the decomposed structures of our knowledge...

Canzoni con il mal di testa incorporato cercano un ospedale, cioè, il nostro ascolto, per essere abbracciate. Sono quelle di questo straordinario EP, senza ombra di dubbio il migliore della band dell’Illinois, qui in grado di mostrare doti circensi, con una spettacolare esibizione di qualità che si precisano nella credibilità, in un impegno che mostra creazioni che scuotono, smuovono, conducono a costruire un luogo per custodirle. I semi sono Post-Punk, i rami Darkwave, le foglie Coldwave e il cuore è un paravento emotivo che separa la tristezza dall’inquietudine, per un incantevole periodo di tempo speso molto bene: si incontrano attitudini deliziosamente americane in un contesto britannico, per una vittoria delle composizioni che dilatano le strutture decomposte della nostra conoscenza…

 Under Fall, Martin Hall - Apparently all the same

A fundamental, phenomenal record, necessary to everyone's consciousness. To call it a masterpiece would be easy but useless, in the world that has emptied this word of meaning. The only album with this label, in reality these songs were all written by Martin Hall, who has had a wonderful career.

A work that feeds and nurtures gentle cataclysms, overcoat rages: everything lies within it and only emerges through great scrutiny. Edgy but flowing, chaotic but comprehensible, a tide that makes the sound genuflect, because it is good to stress this condition, it was written and performed by Danish people, at a time when this kind of climate was an English and German prerogative. It was a trauma for the old scribe to hear it a year after its release, as the concentration of quality was undeniable and it was tremendously hard to believe that it had been conceived in that part of the world.

A concentration of experimental aptitude transforms an artistic ensemble into a descriptive encyclopaedia of a period and its inclinations: the musical genres present are not a collage, but a formed and constructed impetus to whitewash the sky, with a snowfall of skill, with a conducting that makes one imagine a tiny team of navigators in command of a vessel that is enormous because of the wanderings, the topics covered and the mode. Neurotic, sombre, an epileptic and pyrotechnic set, surprising and capable of stirring feelings and reasoning in each of the fourteen tracks. Severe, the joy comes from its sincerity and certainly not from its mode, which is dark and paranoid, hypnotising and consequently capable of developing an intense study. Post-Punk is annihilated, Coldwave reduced to a cold sweat, Synth Pop presents its structures, but without the company of the other genres it would lose its substance. There is a crazy ability to deconstruct the known and make it perfect by means of a resounding transformation and assemblage. Undoubtedly one of the old scribe's most valid and resistant works to the wear and tear of modern life...

 Under Fall, Martin Hall - Apparently all the same

Un disco fondamentale, fenomenale, necessario alla coscienza di tutti. Definirlo capolavoro sarebbe facile ma inutile, nel mondo che ha svuotato di significato questa parola. Unico album con questa dicitura, in realtà queste canzoni sono state scritte tutte da Martin Hall, che ha avuto una splendida carriera.

Un lavoro che nutre e che si nutre di cataclismi gentili, di irruenze con il soprabito: tutto sta al suo interno ed emerge solo attraverso una grande disamina. Spigoloso ma fluente, caotico ma comprensibile, una marea che fa genuflettere il suono, perché è bene rimarcare questa condizione, venne scritto e performato da persone danesi, nel momento in cui questo tipo di clima era una prerogativa inglese e tedesca. Fu un trauma per il vecchio scriba ascoltarlo un anno dopo la sua uscita, in quanto la concentrazione di qualità era innegabile e fu tremendamente difficile credere che fosse stato concepito in quella parte del mondo.

Un concentrato di sperimentale attitudine trasforma un insieme artistico in una enciclopedia descrittiva di un periodo e delle sue inclinazioni: i generi musicali presenti non sono un collage, bensì un impeto formato e costruito per imbiancare il cielo, con una nevicata di abilità, con una conduzione che fa immaginare una minuscola squadra di navigatori al comando di un'imbarcazione enorme per via delle peregrinazioni, degli argomenti affrontati e della modalità. Nevrotico, cupo, un insieme epilettico e pirotecnico, sorprendente e capace di smuovere sentimenti e ragionamenti in ognuna delle quattordici tracce. Severo, la gioia è data dalla sua sincerità e non di certo dalla sua modalità, che è oscura e paranoica, ipnotizzante e conseguentemente capace di sviluppare un'intensa attività di studio. Il Post-Punk viene annichilito, la Coldwave ridotta a un gelido sudore, il Synth Pop presenta le sue strutture, ma senza la compagnia degli altri generi perderebbe la sua sostanza. Si evince una pazzesca capacità di destrutturare il conosciuto e di renderlo perfetto per via di una trasformazione e per un assemblaggio clamoroso. Senza dubbio uno dei lavori conosciuti dal vecchio scriba più validi e resistenti al logorio della vita moderna…

 Pigeon - Permanent Quest/Riged

You can't teach Germany anything, on the contrary, you can learn everything unimaginable from it, and it is a breath that contaminates the lungs of our thoughts. The band produces a single, two songs, in an anarcho-punk plan with obvious Post-Punk stings, in a dive of searing guitars, wheezing and screaming vocals, with the feeling of an ongoing diatribe.

They are fat bullets, soaked in the acid of the history of this artistic propensity that eludes facilitation and seeks rather, through its evident impetus, to make the skin the place where they transfer their neuroses, sublimating everything with episodes of simmering feelings, as they run towards escape, where no victory awaits them. But they do win, either because of their immediacy or because of a style that cannot be denied...

 Pigeon - Permanent Quest/Riged

Alla Germania non puoi insegnare nulla, anzi puoi imparare da essa tutto il non immaginabile, ed è un respiro che contamina i polmoni dei nostri pensieri. La band produce un singolo, due canzoni, in un piano anarcho-punk con evidenti pungiglioni Post-Punk, in una immersione di chitarre roventi, voci ansimanti e urlanti, con la sensazione di una diatriba in corso.

Sono proiettili grassi, imbevuti nell’acido della storia di questa propensione artistica che sfugge alla faciloneria e cerca piuttosto, attraverso il suo impeto evidente, di rendere la pelle il luogo dove trasferire le proprie nevrosi, sublimando il tutto con episodi di sentimenti in ebollizione, mentre corrono verso la fuga, dove nessuna vittoria li attende. Loro però vincono eccome, vuoi per la loro immediatezza, vuoi per uno stile a cui non si può negare il nostro consenso…

 Goradze - Doctrine Of The Void

The old scribe revels in the turmoil of this listen: marvellous corridors full of seemingly uncovered electricity cables open up, for a result that brings hands to ceaseless applause.

Well: Washington is the city of residence of this trio of unquestionably talented humans, gifted with patient research and an aptitude for compacting a torrent of unhealthy but delightful feedback, while the sound is torn and exhausted, led into the prison of this enchanting album. The avant-garde, the most secret minimalism come together in a discourse in which the gothic sphere leaves its mark, without needing all the corollary of the waves of that musical genre, making the whole thing extremely disturbing and therefore interesting. One has the impression of listening to lucid follies that want to destroy old clichés on the one hand, and on the other demonstrate the attempt to stratify knowledge and take it to extremes. They intervene with quality in covering sensations with a mental gully, to make what is stale and useless die. A resounding work that deserves your interest: it is works like these that give confidence!
