Pure love for the Los Angeles band should never be lacking: once again we are faced with a composition that reveals its class and power, in a sonic attack on melancholy, which here is surrounded by a powerful bass and synths that sketch tears in the sky. We note the marriage of Post-Punk and Coldwave, and at lunchtime we find ourselves dancing around the table, as an act of love for these atmospheres steeped in an autumn on the verge of a nervous breakdown. No vocals, the music is the queen, the melody manages to stay afloat while the wild rhythm throws the guests to the floor: an endless thank you to them...

L’amore puro per la band di Los Angeles non dovrebbe mai mancare: ancora una volta siamo di fronte a una composizione che ne rivela classe e potenza, in un attacco sonoro alla malinconia, che qui viene circondata da un basso potente e da un synth che tratteggia lacrime nel cielo. Notiamo che si sposano il Post-Punk e la Coldwave, e nel pranzo ci si ritrova a danzare attorno al tavolo, come un atto d’amore per queste atmosfere intrise di un autunno sull’orlo di una crisi di nervi. Nessuna voce, la musica è la regina, la melodia riesce a stare a galla mentre il ritmo, selvaggio, scaraventa gli invitati per terra: giunga loro un grazie infinito…

 Excutioner's Mask - Despair Anthems

This album was, in 2020, considered by the old scribe to be the most granitic and dense one of that year, and he comes back to it, willing to write about it, so that its traces are not lost, because it is so extreme, generous, tenebrous, a tepid wave of malaise with a crucifix of breaths tattooed on its skin without any more power. The route provides an impressive gothic backdrop, a journey between genres without getting lost, with a robust manner that gives the measure of a sublime quality. The years of human lament always have a dim light, a shyness that can, however, know the muscles and anger that in all tracks show their face. The singing cannot fail to remind one of Rozz Williams, while the musical part is an ocean of references that finds a way to evolve, and this is a truly remarkable aspect. Deathrock is an inevitable hint, as is Gothic Rock, not to mention Darkwave and Post-Punk. But it is not a confused act, a free-for-all to prove who knows what. Instead, the American band has a strategic plan and achieves it, giving us the chance to live on an altar, running around its perimeter, to make us bats in worship...

 Excutioner’s Mask - Despair Anthems

Quest’album fu, nel 2020, fu considerato dal vecchio scriba quello più granitico e denso di quell’anno e ci torna su, volenteroso di scriverne, affinché non se ne perdano le tracce, in quanto così estremo, generoso, tenebroso, un’onda tiepida di malessere con tatuato sulla pelle un crocifisso di respiri senza più poteri. La rotta prevede uno scenario gotico impressionante, un viaggio tra i generi senza perdersi, con un fare robusto che dona la misura di una qualità eccelsa. Gli anni del lamento umano hanno sempre la luce fioca, una timidezza che però può conoscere i muscoli e la rabbia che in tutte le tracce ne mostrano il volto. Il cantato non può non ricordare Rozz Williams, mentre la parte musicale è un oceano di riferimenti che trova modo di compiere un'evoluzione, ed è questo un aspetto davvero notevole. Il Deathrock è un accenno inevitabile, come il Gothic Rock, per non parlare della Darkwave e del Post-Punk. Ma non è un atto confuso, un accesso libero per dimostrare chissà cosa. La band americana invece ha un piano strategico e lo raggiunge, dandoci la possibilità di vivere su un altare, correndo nel suo perimetro, per fare di noi pipistrelli in adorazione…

Any Version Of Me - Summer After All

A book should be written on Baroque Pop, especially the French kind, the kind that doesn't lend itself to too much contamination, that stays locked inside its umbrella. We have a lucid example of this by listening to this work, an addictive pill of joy, because of the rhythms and melodies so perfectly aligned with positivity. Don't think you are hearing a record from the sixties: study well because everything is older, it is only the sound that can fool you, but the old scribe has faith in you. So: there are doses of propensities from the past that have arrived in this project, like a long ray of sunshine full of goodwill. One dreams, one dances, one spins in a circle made up of Alternative references in instalments, without exaggeration, to make listening a precious act of love, without anxieties, problems, in which earthly vicissitudes still allow one to open the windows and enjoy the view...

 Any Version Of Me - Summer After All

Bisognerebbe scrivere un libro sul Pop Barocco, soprattutto quello Francese, quello che non si presta a troppe contaminazioni, che sta chiuso dentro il suo ombrello. Ne abbiamo un lucido esempio ascoltando questo lavoro, una pillola che crea dipendenza con la gioia, per via di ritmiche e melodie così perfettamente allineate alla positività. Non crediate di sentire un disco proveniente dagli anni Sessanta: studiate bene perché tutto è più antico, è solo il suono che vi può ingannare, ma il vecchio scriba ha fiducia in voi. Quindi: ci sono dosi di propensioni risalenti al passato che sono arrivate in questo progetto, come un lungo raggio di sole pieno di buona volontà. Si sogna, si balla, si gira in un cerchio fatto di richiami Alternative a rate, senza esagerazioni, per fare dell’ascolto un prezioso atto d’amore, senza ansie, problemi, in cui le vicissitudini terrene consentono ancora di aprire le finestre e di godere del panorama…

Married FM - Married FM

Music is in need of peace signs, of easing its nerves inside our days, to become a place where notes are a collective well-being again. Beth and Emily, two artists full of goodwill and quality, distributors of soft blankets, do this with their songs that are truly a beacon in the midst of the blackness. They point the way and not the direction: with them we are in the materialisation of dreams and good cheer. Using the characteristics of country wearing folk feathers and light but not silly pop, we find ourselves whistling, dancing with smiles and a zest for life. Because there's a There Ain't Nothing in each of us....
