My Review: Chatham Rise - Splinter

 Chatham Rise - Splinter

How do you describe the enchantment given by a floral, continuous flow, which envelops the listener in order to move a smile inside one's belly? As a human miracle.

The Minneapolis band establishes the powerful contact between Shoegaze and Psychedelia through Splinter, an event of the senses because in these notes there is a suitcase of time, with the initial atmosphere starting in the 80s, then stabilising the flight into the modernity of Shoegaze, with guitars first hinted at, then scratched, and the bass that is a heart as it makes our joy run. The keyboard seduces, keeps the melody compact and everything seems to veer towards a Space-Rock that is masterfully restrained, but whose power is felt. There is joy in the sound, undeniable, yet what conquers the old scribe is the feeling that something mysterious is permanently inside these grooves, a step between heaven and planet Earth. A prickly track that shakes and shows us how musical genres can cohabit perfectly within the same room without losing their identity. The Minnesota band is a presence that smells of beauty and the writer is betting on its future, because from these notes the hunger for their art has become immediate. What the heart has established is an encounter with their magic...
