Just how much the old scribe loves this kind of song is no mystery: the band from Bristol returns with their mixture of Dreampop and barely noticeable Noise with a fresh track, enchanting for the skilful cheerfulness it manages to convey, making us smile and lose ourselves in a dance caused by a perfect rhythm, with the ups and downs of the criss-crossing guitars that are majestic and the singing that sticks in the head. After the Stop and Go, the finale becomes a subtle noise, finally dragging the listener into a moving demonstration that these guys know how to take care of us.

That's what we need: to meet someone who opens the rays of sunshine for us....

 stay lunar - I Like It When You’re Around

Quanto il vecchio scriba ami questo tipo di canzoni non è un mistero: la band di Bristol torna con la sua miscela di Dreampop e Noise appena accennato con un brano fresco, incantevole per la sapiente allegria che riesce a trasmettere, facendoci sorridere e perdere in una danza causata da un ritmo perfetto, con i sali e scendi delle chitarre incrociate che sono maestose e il cantato che si fissa nella testa. Dopo lo Stop and Go, il finale si fa sottilmente Noise, trascinando definitivamente l’ascolto in una commovente dimostrazione che questi ragazzi sanno prendersi cura di noi.

Ecco di cosa abbiamo bisogno: di incontrare qualcuno che apra i raggi di sole per noi…

La mia Recensione: Order 89 - Future

 Order 89 - Future

Bordeaux: quella donna di classe che nasconde il passato e rivela il futuro. Per farlo bussa alla qualità di una band dirompente come gli Order 89, quartetto che getta spranghe di Postpunk sul terreno fertile all’accoglienza di quella straordinaria parte che viene definita synthwave. Però: siamo sicuri che non vi siano impronte Coldwave a rendere questa canzone speciale e trascinante? Esiste una modalità elettronica che bussa con timidezza e investe l’ascolto con oscillazioni e fiammate per dare, come risultato, una orchidea che si conficca nella mente: le bastano pochi elementi per farlo, riuscendoci benissimo.

Dopo una introduzione che sembra sospendere il respiro e inquinare l’aria di una tensione sublime, quando arriva il cantato tutto si dilata e non c’è scampo: è annessione completa in questa danza robotica, dai lineamenti corporei francesi e l’anima più estrema appartenente a quella Germania che sa mettere le sue impronte ovunque. Totalmente raccomandato l’ascolto e consigliata la fruizione.

My Review: Order 89 - Future

 Order 89 - Future

Bordeaux: that classy lady who hides the past and reveals the future. To do so, it knocks on the quality of a disruptive band like Order 89, a quartet that throws bars of Postpunk on the fertile ground for the reception of that extraordinary part that is defined as synthwave. But: are we sure there are no Coldwave imprints that make this song special and enthralling? There is an electronic mode that knocks with shyness and invests the listener with oscillations and flashes to give, as a result, an orchid that sticks in the mind: it needs only a few elements to do this, and succeeds very well.

After an introduction that seems to suspend the breath and pollute the air with a sublime tension, the singing arrives with everything dilated and there is no escape: it is complete annexation in this robotic dance, with French bodily features and the most extreme soul belonging to that Germany that knows how to put its fingerprints everywhere. Totally recommended to listen to and enjoy.

My Review: European Ghost - No Peace, No Sleep, No Shelter

 European Ghost - No Peace, No Sleep, No Shelter

There is a wonderfully dark Italy, which knows how to distinguish itself between sadness printed as if by an inevitable cliché and assorted banalities without restraint.

From Bologna, a city with a long memory and capable of using forces of its own that prove to be effective, comes a band full of inspiration and immense quality that, starting from the deepest and most articulate literature, arrives at atmospheres laden with wisdom and capable of leading the matter of sleep into territories that include not only dreams, but the meaning of what should be a simple and dutiful night's refreshment. But they do much more: they find the soul of it all and show it to us.

And if the starting music, as a dutiful initial cue, is that of the Darkwave of the last ten years, if we pay attention we might notice that everything is imbued with an older mantle, with a great ability not to show itself too much, but which gives these eleven songs a dress that hints at the physical features of genres that do not know how to die, giving through these mature guys the pleasantness and usefulness of seeing forty years of grey clouds moving within that part of the world made of notes that knows how to resist. And does not want to give in.

The least Italian band of all (yes, in this case an enormous and well-deserved compliment), gives lessons in class to many of the international ones, due to their careful and methodical work, capable of using influences and creating others in turn, ending up writing an album that is a riding ivy, grey and black, and that exposes itself to rays of sunlight that delude themselves into diminishing its intensity. But at its core, this bundle of nocturnal senses resists and lives out its mission not caring about anything: authoritative and militant in the area of research and artistic expression, it swaggers into rooms ready to dance and seek sleep without sleeping...

Undoubtedly a path of abandonment towards existence, its places, its people, with a necessary closure on the one hand of every relationship and on the other the pleasant encounter with a delirium that only comes from the clash with nightmares.

Obscenely beautiful, this record takes the sacrosanct right to give us the middle finger: there is nothing about these songs that the average Italian would know how to appreciate. So one wishes on the one hand, Buon Viaggio, and on the other, secretly binges non-stop.

The scribe favours the second option, don't you?

 European Ghost - No Peace, No Sleep, No Shelter

Esiste una Italia meravigliosamente cupa, che sa distinguersi tra tristezze stampate come da un cliché inevitabile e banalità assortite senza ritegno.

A Bologna, città dalla memoria lunga e capace di usare forze proprie che risultano essere efficaci, giunge una band ricca di ispirazione e di immense qualità che, partendo dalla letteratura più profonda e articolata, giunge sino ad atmosfere cariche di saggezza e in grado di condurre la materia del sonno in territori che non comprendono solo i sogni, bensì il significato di quello che dovrebbe essere un semplice e doveroso ristoro notturno. Ma loro fanno molto di più: trovano l’anima di tutto questo e ce la fanno vedere.

E se la musica di partenza, come doveroso spunto iniziale, è quella Darkwave degli ultimi dieci anni, prestando attenzione potremmo notare come il tutto sia imbevuto di un manto più antico, dotato di grande abilità nel non mostrarsi troppo, ma che conferisce a queste undici canzoni un vestito che fa intuire i lineamenti fisici di generi che non sanno morire, donando attraverso questi ragazzi maturi la piacevolezza e l’utilità di vedere commossi quarant’anni di nuvole grigie in movimento all’interno di quella parte del mondo fatto di note che sa resistere. E non vuole cedere.

La band meno italiana di tutte (sì, in questo caso un complimento enorme e meritato), dà lezioni di classe a molte di quelle internazionali, per via di un lavoro attento e metodico, capace di usare influenze e di crearne a sua volta altre, finendo per scrivere un album che è un'edera cavalcante, grigia e nera, e che si espone davanti a raggi di sole che si illudono di diminuirne l’intensità. Ma al suo interno questo fascio di sensi notturni resiste e vive la sua missione fregandosene di tutto: autorevole e militante nella zona della ricerca e dell’espressione artistica, se ne va spavaldo in stanze pronte a ballare e a cercare il sonno senza dormire…

Senz’altro un percorso di abbandono nei confronti dell’esistenza, dei suoi luoghi, delle persone, con una necessaria chiusura da una parte di ogni relazione e dall’altra il piacevole incontro con un delirio che arriva solo dallo scontro con gli incubi.

Di una bellezza oscena, questo disco si prende il diritto, sacrosanto, di farci il dito medio: non c’è nulla di queste canzoni che un italiano medio saprebbe apprezzare. E allora si augura da una parte Buon Viaggio e dall’altra, segretamente, ci si abbuffa senza sosta.

Lo scriba propende per la seconda opzione, e voi?

My Review: Otchim - Reves Brisees

 Otchim - Reves Brises

What have we got, old scribe?
A Russian and a Frenchman: Anton Berezin and Jordi, from St Petersburg and Paris, in a project called Otchim, now in its fourth work, the second for the prestigious Label Sierpien Records.
Seven hypnotic souls encircle us between Kraftwerk, Robots, D.A.F. and more, for a temporal journey that lands at the end of the 1970s and starts again at the end of 1983. Everything is there, deposited, certified.
But then a sprinkling of contemporaneity is needed, and the duo inserts it perfectly, like splinterless cylinders, with unquestionable precision.
First of all, the soul: Post-Punk, but without overt displays, because it is kept hidden, inside notes on which electronic attitudes are placed, in which Coldwave and Synthwave play the game, in a splendid draw.
Their undoubted ability is to bring dance into a conscious space, where utility cannot be stopped by fun. Here, then, the seriousness of this record consists of microchips activated to make us become thoughts hired by them to find physicality. A miracle, and it is worth emphasising this. Jordi's singing in French offers romantic feather cells that cannot be deprived of Anton's Sarmatian bassoman, in which he lives the discipline and rigidity that blocks the music beautifully, not allowing it too much sentimentality.

Simply a dutiful and enjoyable album awaits you: don't hesitate...
