Cosa abbiamo, vecchio scriba?

Un russo e un francese: Anton Berezin e Jordi , da San Pietroburgo e da Parigi, in un progetto chiamato Otchim, giunti al quarto lavoro, il secondo per la prestigiosa Label Sierpien Records.

Sette ipnotiche anime ci accerchiano tra Kraftwerk, Robots, D.A.F. e molto altro, per un viaggio temporale che atterra alla fine degli anni ’70 per ripartire alla fine del 1983. Tutto è lì, depositato, certificato.

Poi occorre però una spruzzata di contemporaneità e il duo la inserisce perfettamente, come cilindri senza schegge, con precisione indiscutibile.

Prima di tutto l'anima: Post-Punk, ma senza esibizioni evidenti, perché tenuta nascosta, dentro appunti su cui vengono appoggiate attitudini elettroniche, in cui Coldwave e Synthwave si giocano la partita, in un pareggio splendido.

La loro indubbia capacità è quella di portare la danza in uno spazio cosciente, dove l'utilità non può essere fermata dal divertimento. Ecco, quindi, che la serietà di questo disco consta di microchip attivati per farci divenire pensieri assoldati da loro per trovare fisicità. Un miracolo, ed è bene sottolinearlo. Il cantato in francese di Jordi offre cellule di piume romantiche che non possono essere prive del bassomano sarmatico di Anton, in cui vive la disciplina e la rigidità che blocca splendidamente la musica, non consentendole troppi sentimentalismi.

Semplicemente un album doveroso e piacevole vi attende: non esitate...

 SUIR - NOT ALL OF YOUR PAIN IS SELF CHOSEN

Cologne is the musical mountain of Germany: towering peaks, the biting cold in the notes, the right and perfect chill on the skin comes when you get a chance to take a free descent there.

Lucia Seiß & Denis Wanic are simply beautiful: a determined, capable, clear-headed duo, architects and workers of songs that clench the heart and throw it into delirium from the taut-faced, somber, pure, divine, flawless spectacle.

Released in October 2022, this work is much more than it seems: it is a machine, a glimpse, kilos of literature, continuous nuance, a black-and-white film, a stimulus to make up one's thoughts, a set of tales, a surfboard on the sound stones of the German city...

How can one describe the place where truculent feelings, sense of loss, disillusionment, frustration meet? It's natural for them: they sling their instruments and everything comes out, clear in their inner haze, a miracle that can only be cuddled with careful listening.

Sure: there are musical genres, even precise ones, and methodical forays into taking from the past what can be scaled down, but would it be necessary to specify the mode? Leave me with the conviction that something else needs to be done here: to disperse into listening, possibly in the basement, and to feel the house come crashing down on your head, feeling an absurd joy...

I can imagine, though, the insistence: Darkwave, Coldwave, Post-Punk, Post-Rock in the album take precedence, they are the ostensible forms of expression, how to deny it?

Let's avoid prolongations that might be tedious and rather throw in the notes of Not Accustomed To Be Hurt and you will have a clear idea of what you will find in this their third record: you will have no escape, all that is a painful mantra and sweetness compacted, knowing how to imprison impulses in pleasurable torture. And then the bands you love, many of them, might applaud the band and your purchase, because you cannot miss the appointment with this record, which is representative of suggestions glued to the need to be thrown into you, as this is perfection, just know it..

Colonia è la montagna musicale della Germania: vette altissime, il freddo pungente nelle note, il giusto e perfetto brivido sulla pelle arriva quando si ha la possibilità di fare una discesa libera da quelle parti.

Lucia Seiß & Denis Wanic sono semplicemente bellissimi: un duo determinato, capace, con le idee chiare, architetti e operai di canzoni che stringono il cuore e lo gettano nel delirio dalla faccia tesa, cupa, spettacolo puro, divino, privo di difetti.

Uscito nell'ottobre del 2022, questo lavoro è molto di più di quello che sembra: è una macchina, uno sguardo, chili di letteratura, sfumatura continua, un film in bianco e nero, uno stimolo per truccarsi i pensieri, un insieme di racconti, una tavola da surf sulle pietre sonore della città tedesca...

Come si può descrivere il luogo dove si incontrano i sentimenti trucidi, il senso di perdita, il disincanto, la frustrazione? Per loro è naturale: imbracciano gli strumenti e tutto esce, limpido nella loro foschia interiore, un miracolo che si può solo coccolare con ascolti attenti.

Certo: ci sono generi musicali, anche precisi, e metodiche incursioni nel prendere dal passato ciò che può essere ridimensionato, ma servirebbe specificare la modalità? Lasciatemi la convinzione che qui occorra fare altro: disperdersi nell'ascolto, possibilmente in cantina e sentire la casa crollare sulla testa provando una gioia assurda...

Immagino, però, l'insistenza: Darkwave, Coldwave, Post-Punk, Post-Rock nell'album hanno la precedenza, sono le forme apparentemente di espressione, come negarlo?

Evitiamo prolungamenti che potrebbero tediare e piuttosto buttatevi nelle note di Not Accustomed To Be Hurt e avrete l'idea precisa su cosa troverete in questo loro terzo disco: non avrete scampo, tutto ciò che è mantra doloroso e dolcezza si è compattato, sapendo imprigionare gli impulsi nella tortura piacevole. E allora i gruppi che amate, molti di loro, potrebbero applaudire la band e il vostro acquisto, perché non si può mancare all'appuntamento con questo disco, che è rappresentativo di suggestioni incollate al bisogno di essere buttate dentro di voi, in quanto questa è la perfezione, sappiatelo...

Riuscite a immaginare i Greci vivaci, veloci, in magnifica propensione verso la luce del cielo surfando tra le nuvole con fasci di Dark Electro ed elettronica sensuale? Eccoli, da Atene, con il loro secondo Ep a dare una sferzata alla noia, a conquistare metri di gioia dentro di noi, perché questa band ha tutte le doti che servono per cambiare i confini dei nostri preconcetti e della nostra ignoranza. Sei brani, ventidue minuti e nuovi orizzonti si presentano: si balla, ci si tuffa in musiche che aprono i pori dei pensieri e si guadagna una fetta di salute che, partendo da un fisico che diventa più tonico, ci fa finire a una mente che accoglie scintille di vita pulsante. Nessuna canzone da scegliere: questo è un lavoro compatto, ognuna di loro trascina e conquista, creando una sala da ballo dentro di noi, rendendo la loro scelta musicale anche desiderosa di planare nella Minimal Wave, tra onde elettriche che collegano circuiti temporali che partendo dagli anni ’90 bussano ai giorni nostri rinvigoriti. Sono dischi come questi che danno vitamina al nostro sangue: ancora una volta il cielo di Atene ci ha mostrato che gli Dei ci proteggono…

 Meat Injection - Hang me Love me

Can you imagine the lively, fast-paced Greeks, magnificently leaning towards the light of heaven surfing through the clouds with beams of dark electro and sensual electronica? Here they are, from Athens, with their second Ep to give a lash to boredom, to conquer metres of joy within us, because this band has all the skills it takes to change the boundaries of our preconceptions and ignorance. Six tracks, twenty-two minutes and new horizons present themselves: we dance, we dive into music that opens the pores of our thoughts and we gain a slice of health that, starting from a physique that becomes more toned, makes us end up with a mind that welcomes sparks of pulsating life. There are no songs to choose from: this is a compact work, each of them dragging and conquering, creating a ballroom within us, making their choice of music also eager to glide through Minimal Wave, between electric waves that connect time circuits that start from the 90s and knock into the present day reinvigorated. It is records like these that give vitamin to our blood: once again the sky of Athens has shown us that the gods protect us...

 AIMABLE - A l’etouffoir! 

Gli inarrestabili Francesi: decadenti, fuori dal mondo e sempre così tanto nazionalisti. C’è un gioco di forze nel loro DNA che continua a stupire il vecchio scriba, una fascinazione che, musicalmente, lo lega a quel paese da sempre. Ecco in arrivo questo lavoro maestoso, perfetto, inebriante e trascinante. C’era una volta la Coldwave e aveva tra le sue pieghe quella del paese di Platini, Chirac eccetera. I ragazzi di Dijon con queste 10 tracce ne mantengono le caratteristiche, sapendo di possedere il segreto del tempo che mantiene inalterato tutto. Non sempre esiste ed è doveroso lo sviluppo, la crescita delle cose: alcune si rivelano preziose se rimangono le stesse, nei secoli dei secoli. Il ritmo, costantemente veloce, i synth che con poco dicono tutto, il basso che cova l’eleganza con grappoli di note maestose, danno tutti insieme un quadro che se non arriva al Louvre è solo per colpa di chi non vuole accogliere la vera bellezza. Si sente molto bene che vive una gioia dentro la prigione di ogni limitazione, che sa trovare una esplosione: qui la trasforma in musica, che si manifesta in una catena dentro un frigorifero vuoto, sono le canzoni l’unico cibo masticabile. Se cercate rimandi ve ne saranno moltissimi ma aggiungete anche un aspetto straordinario: un disco che sembra nato nel 1981 e che suona perfettamente nel 2023 è già motivo di stupore…

Here comes this majestic, perfect, intoxicating and enthralling work. Once upon a time there was Coldwave and it had the country of Platini, Chirac and so on in its folds. The boys from Dijon with these 10 tracks maintain the characteristics, knowing that they possess the secret of time that keeps everything intact. There is not always development, the growth of things: some things are valuable if they remain the same, through the ages. The rhythm, constantly fast, the synths that say it all with little effort, the bass that broods elegance with clusters of majestic notes, all together give a picture that if it does not reach the Louvre, it is only because of those who do not want to embrace true beauty. You can hear very well that he lives a joy inside the prison of every limitation, that he knows how to find an explosion: here he turns it into music, which manifests itself in a chain inside an empty fridge, songs are the only chewable food. If you're looking for references, there will be plenty of them, but also add an extraordinary aspect: a record that sounds like it was born in 1981 and sounds perfect in 2023 is already cause for amazement…
