My Review: Corbeuau Hangs - Necramor

Corbeuau Hangs - Necramor

Like a wound that smiles at the sky, here comes the second single from this band from Arizona, who seem to have found that mode of expression that seems to have long since failed to emerge in their neck of the woods. A heap of darkwave clouds set fire to a bass guitar that has no qualms: the bassist likes Peter Hook and doesn't hide it, even if the track's atmospheres are closer to that of hypothetical The Sisters of Mercy in the process of extinguishing pomposity. Battle-hardened, deftly exploiting four synth notes, the song develops an insistent guitar turn that is not afraid to disfigure itself in front of Wayne Hussey's ancient, skilful hands. There is something that escapes the old scribe: where can one find a flaw in this? Certainly: in the publication date, because it seems that the boys have forgotten the value of contemporaneity. Carl McCoy will certainly be smiling: this voice cannot be as devastating as his, but it contains a remarkable seductive capacity in that, starting with the lyrics and the biblical reference, nothing seems to be left to chance, reaching at the end of the song a space within which tiny crumbs of joy are filled with salt. If American post-punk still manages to have its say, it is because, evidently, what happened in the 1980s in Europe has not yet lost its breath...
