My Review: In a Darkened Room - Sorrows

In a Darkened Room - Sorrows

Have you ever been to San Antonio? Neither have I, but who cares? We have, and I would say not in a happy way with this Texan trio's album, but they are not to blame, in fact they are very good at translating that reality.

And this work is remarkable: the songs have the smell of Gothic Rock but are equipped with the Darkwave outfit, because it is the latter that is heard most. Full of pathos, of unfurled surprises, of hallucinations that seem to come out of the living dead without oxygen, this is a record that atrophies, immalinates but brings out the evocative power of places and stories, and is a Bignami of certain aspects of our existence.

CJ D has a concrete, weathered voice, while his guitar can enrich 80s darkwave solutions.

The other two, Svia Svenlava and Kandi Keys, are absolute standouts, rightly the children of dark references and suggestions: they sound as if they are under the influence of funereal acids.

Eight tracks for forty-one minutes: the Texan funeral is served up on a black tray and it's great to be able to attend...
