As we look up at the Los Angeles sky, we can see souls directed towards an unconstrained sweetness, pure in building a basin into which our reflections will fall, given lyrics that lead us to a path with no funnel. The song is a manifest ability to make dark music with pop inputs, with Chelsea's voice bewitching and straining our breath, finally I might add. Short, like the life of a hummingbird, this sensory exploration feeds off the waves with the chain to plunge us into a mind-connecting emotion: it will be hard not to get hooked on listening to this amazing lament...

Alziamo lo sguardo verso il cielo di Los Angeles: possiamo notare delle anime indirizzate verso una dolcezza senza vincoli, puri nel costruire una bacinella in cui cadranno le nostre riflessioni, date da un testo che ci conducono a un cammino senza nessun imbuto. La canzone è una manifesta abilità di fare musica oscura con ingressi pop, con la voce di Chelsea che strega e affatica il nostro respiro, finalmente aggiungerei. Breve, come la vità di un colibrì, questa esplorazione sensoriale si nutre di onde con la catena per farci sprofondare in una emozione che collega la mente: sarà difficile non appassionarsi all’ascolto di questo strepitoso lamento…

 General Trust * Cool/Ok/Medical History

Extraordinary display of beauty, a combo of songs as polite epilepsy, for a dance programmed to distribute toxins within a room full of souls waiting to explode. The American band General Trust ignited the dust of their class, compacted towards an exercise of synthetic fascinations, anaesthetising the most melancholic feelings, distributing musical toxins like cycles of bars to educate the soul to dehumanisation.

Synth-Punk and Coldwave, on a plane of celestial dishonesty: so much beauty becomes problematic to handle... Stratospheric work!

General Trust * Cool/Ok/Medical History

Straordinaria dimostrazione di bellezza, un combo di canzoni come epilessia educata, per una danza programmata per distribuire le tossine all’interno di una sala colma di anime in attesa di esplodere. La band Americana General Trust ha acceso le polveri della loro classe, compattate verso un esercizio di fascinazioni sintetiche, anestetizzando i sentimenti più melensi, distribuendo tossine musicali come cicli di sprangate per educare l’anima alla disumanizzazione.

Synth-Punk e Coldwave, su un piano di celestiale disonestà: cotanta bellezza diventa problematico gestirla… Stratosferico lavoro!

Riassumere il tempo e il mutamento dei luoghi in musica: credete sia una cosa semplice? Per nulla.

Eppure questo è ciò che accade ascoltando Aurora, che evidenzia l’enorme passo avanti rispetto a Ghost Moon Ritual, che già presentava momenti di intensa bellezza. Ma è davvero così, Bryce Boudreau e Chris Murphy in questo nuovo lavoro raggiungono il baricentro di una sensibilità che rivela dolcezza e la capacità di essere perfettamente in grado di connettere la sensualità. Lo scenario, l’impalcatura e le suggestioni consequenziali sono tutte dentro un’armonica flessione verso l’immensità della rifrazione della luce, mostrando come le loro canzoni siano gioielli sonori sotto i palmi di un tramonto che si ritrova inebetito per questa cura del dettaglio e per una produzione semplicemente perfetta. Loro non catturano, ma liberano le movenze dell’animo umano vestendolo di atmosfere che passeggiano con una sigaretta in bocca, attraversando la notte per sorridere all'arrivo del nuovo giorno. Frizzante, misteriosa, densa, volutamente generosa, questa creatura vive di dieci episodi nei quali tutto è un vedere più che un sentire, le note affondano nelle gocce di stupore e si è danzanti tra pellicole luminose in cerca di un abbraccio. L’elettronica diventa l’avamposto della Chillwave, in un matrimonio artistico che ristabilisce l’esigenza di ascoltare dischi provenienti dagli anni Novanta: i due compiono un servizio culturale, dove la storia torna ad avere la sua importanza e in cui permettono al presente di avere nuove soluzioni, non solo per differenziarsi, bensì per sviluppare un percorso cognitivo più che mai necessario. Avanzano, dirompenti, le sensazioni di trame oscure che non necessitano di essere negative, come anime notturne deambulanti in attesa di essere illuminate. Ascoltando Aurora ci si ritrova umidi, con le lacrime che sgorgano come soddisfazione e non come sofferenza, e asciutti al contempo perché i due ragazzi sembrano aver trovato il modo di assorbire le tensioni del vivere. I synth sono i veri protagonisti di ogni singola traccia, in quanto diventano i chirurghi della bellezza, ballerini in primis dei loro tratteggi armonici, indagatori delle possibilità, pittori di quadri umorali, con la capacità di donare, lungo i ventinove minuti, un senso di pace e positività che rende il tutto semplicemente utile e perfetto. 

Un album sicuramente utile per imparare la sinuosità dei sentimenti, per individuare la profondità della ricerca e per godere di soffi notturni in cerca di un sorriso: generosamente gravido di poesia…

My Review: Lunar Twin - Aurora

Lunar Twin - Aurora

Summarising time and changing places in music: do you think this is a simple thing? Not at all.

Yet this is what happens when listening to Aurora, which highlights the enormous step forward compared to Ghost Moon Ritual, which already featured moments of intense beauty. But is it really so, Bryce Boudreau and Chris Murphy in this new work reach the centre of gravity of a sensibility that reveals sweetness and the ability to connect sensuality perfectly. The scenery, the scaffolding and the consequential suggestions are all within a harmonic bending towards the immensity of the refraction of light, showing how their songs are sonic jewels under the palms of a sunset that finds itself inebriated by this attention to detail and simply perfect production. They do not capture, but liberate the motions of the human soul by dressing it in atmospheres that walk with a cigarette in their mouths, crossing the night to smile at the arrival of the new day.

Sparkling, mysterious, dense, deliberately generous, this creature lives on in ten episodes in which everything is a seeing rather than a hearing, the notes sink into the drops of amazement and you are dancing between bright films in search of an embrace. Electronics becomes the outpost of the Chillwave, in an artistic marriage that re-establishes the need to listen to records from the Nineties: the two perform a cultural service, where history returns to its importance and in which they allow the present to have new solutions, not only to differentiate itself, but to develop a cognitive path that is more necessary than ever.

They advance, disruptive, the sensations of dark plots that do not need to be negative, like walking nocturnal souls waiting to be illuminated. Listening to Aurora one finds oneself moist, with tears flowing as satisfaction and not as suffering, and dry at the same time because the two boys seem to have found a way to absorb the tensions of living. The synths are the real protagonists of every single track, as they become the surgeons of beauty, dancers in primis of their harmonic hatching, investigators of possibilities, painters of mood pictures, with the ability to donate, along the twenty-nine minutes, a sense of peace and positivity that makes it all simply useful and perfect. 

An album certainly useful for learning the sinuosity of feelings, for identifying the depth of research and for enjoying nocturnal breaths in search of a smile: generously pregnant with poetry...

 Haunt Me - All Things Turn Grey

Haunt Me are fertile, capable, unstoppable, a magnet that attracts the need to create satellites of vapour-filled notes, in a faithful sound circuit within Post-Punk that is married to the not too exuberant Gothic Rock, establishing a perfect harmony. Three episodes, a succession of quality, addictive frustration and pain that are here pampered by wisdom and the will to cherish it all for eternity. One finds oneself dancing, knowing that nothing will be the same as before: one dives into circular, almost archaic guitars and consequently loaded with references to which we are fond of. This is not a nostalgic operation: you can tell by the singing, the arrangements, the desire to anaesthetise certain clichés that might have made you tired. Instead, we find ourselves celebrating the harmony, the fluidity, the oil running through songs that arouse respect and curiosity. More down-to-earth than some over-celebrated bands of the 1980s, the American combo demonstrates balance and ponderation, for a total beam of gothic light that can warm the head towards stimulating thoughts...

 Haunt Me - All Things Turn Grey

Gli Haunt Me sono fertili, capaci, inarrestabili, un magnete che attrae il bisogno di creare satelliti di note piene di vapore, in un circuito sonoro fedele all’interno del Post-Punk che si trova sposato al Gothic Rock non troppo esuberante, stabilendo un’armonia perfetta. Tre gli episodi, una successione di qualità, di dipendenza dalla frustrazione e dal dolore che qui vengono coccolati dalla sapienza e dalla volontà di custodire il tutto per l’eternità. Ci si ritrova a ballare sapendo che nulla sarà come prima: ci si tuffa in chitarre circolari, quasi arcaiche e conseguentemente cariche di riferimenti a cui siamo affezionati. Non è un’operazione nostalgica: lo capisci dal cantato, dagli arrangiamenti, dal voler anestetizzare alcuni cliché che avrebbero potuto stancare. Ci troviamo invece a celebrare l’armonia, la fluidità, il petrolio che corre dentro brani che suscitano rispetto e curiosità. Più concreto di alcune band troppo celebrate negli anni Ottanta, il combo americano dimostra equilibrio e ponderazione, per un fascio totale di luce gotica che può scaldare la testa verso pensieri ricchi di stimoli…

My Review: Shrouds - Grimoire

 Shrouds - Grimoire

What a positive and liberating flow: the old scribe waited for this album as one waits for days full of joy! And now the latter is well and truly in his veins. A killer work, a sweep that sweeps away so much of the approximation that has been coming out in recent months. Instead, the Californian band decides that it is the intelligence, commitment, study and quality of songs born to become a cave inside our minds that find form and place.

The musical genres present are a gothic rainbow, arms that allow the various currents to create space and make love, in a way where collectivity is the watchword.

The list includes: Post-Punk, Deathrock, Darkwave, the triad that kills the doubts, the false propensities for joy and that can and will still shock, as effect and not cause. A swarm of grievous notes that weigh down the breath and confirm that part of the United States capable of not denying its own DNA: it is a lament at the foot of sacredness, a mass without religion that condemns sins and saves sinners, in a truly astounding moral exercise.

The guitars abound with lamentations, they are swans screaming and flying in the vibrations of the bass, to slip into human disaster. The drumming is a boulder that crumbles nerves and shakes, shakes, shakes until it hurts. One must be predisposed to silence with this artistic design: the woman with the scythe has made a contract and these sonic oscillations are a splendid noose around our necks...

 Shrouds - Grimoire

Che flusso positivo e liberatorio: il vecchio scriba attendeva questo album così come si aspettano giornate piene di gioia! E ora quest’ultima è ben collocata dentro le sue vene. Un lavoro micidiale, una scopa che spazza via tanta di quella approssimazione che in questi ultimi mesi sta uscendo. La band Californiana invece decide che sia l’intelligenza, l’impegno, lo studio e la qualità di canzoni nate per divenire una grotta dentro le nostre menti a trovare forma e luogo.

I generi musicali presenti sono un arcobaleno gotico, braccia che consentono alle varie correnti di creare spazio e di fare l’amore, in una modalità in cui la collettività è la parola d’ordine.

L’elenco prevede: Post-Punk, Deathrock, Darkwave, la triade che uccide i dubbi, le false propensioni al gaudio e che può e vuole ancora sconvolgere, come effetto e non come causa. Uno sciame di grevi note che appesantiscono il fiato e confermano quella parte degli Stati Uniti capace di non negare il proprio DNA: è un lamento ai piedi della sacralità, una messa senza religione che condanna i peccati e salva i peccatori, in un esercizio morale davvero stupefacente.

Le chitarre abbondano di lamentele, sono cigni che urlano e volano nelle vibrazioni del basso, per scivolare nel disastro umano. Il drumming è una masso che sbriciola i nervi e scuote, scuote, scuote sino a fare male. Occorre saper essere predisposti al silenzio con questo disegno artistico: la donna con la falce ha stipulato un contratto e queste oscillazioni sonore sono uno splendido cappio al nostro collo…

Songs with a built-in headache seek a hospital, that is, our listening, to be embraced. These are the ones on this extraordinary EP, without a shadow of a doubt the best from the Illinois band, here displaying circus skills, with a spectacular display of qualities that are specified in credibility, in a commitment that shows creations which are able to shake, to stir, to build a place to cherish them.The seeds are Post-Punk, the branches Darkwave, the leaves Coldwave, and the heart is an emotional screen separating sadness from disquiet, for an enchanting time very well spent: delightfully American attitudes meet in a British context, for a victory of compositions that dilate the decomposed structures of our knowledge...

 French Police - Pedaleo Nocturno

Canzoni con il mal di testa incorporato cercano un ospedale, cioè, il nostro ascolto, per essere abbracciate. Sono quelle di questo straordinario EP, senza ombra di dubbio il migliore della band dell’Illinois, qui in grado di mostrare doti circensi, con una spettacolare esibizione di qualità che si precisano nella credibilità, in un impegno che mostra creazioni che scuotono, smuovono, conducono a costruire un luogo per custodirle. I semi sono Post-Punk, i rami Darkwave, le foglie Coldwave e il cuore è un paravento emotivo che separa la tristezza dall’inquietudine, per un incantevole periodo di tempo speso molto bene: si incontrano attitudini deliziosamente americane in un contesto britannico, per una vittoria delle composizioni che dilatano le strutture decomposte della nostra conoscenza…
