My Review: Mother’s Son - Silence Starved EP.

Mother's Son - Silence Starved EP.

How beautiful are these forays into Melbourne, especially when they sweep away the idea that only people illuminated by the sun and the joy of living inhabit that city. To listen to these three songs is to kiss a bitter truth on the lips. Coldwave leaves Europe and reaps sacrificial victims, wonderful, attentive, able to learn that even in that part of the world there is a way to expand stretches of darkness, though not too gloomy. The feeling that the gothic form can thicken the leaden atmosphere becomes a certainty with Silence Starved, a princess with the delicate propensity to become a mantra as a consequence of enchanting synth lines. The following Winter's Light shows signs of Post-Punk coming out of Manchester (England) in 1983, and then meets the German electronic music of the never tamed Frankfurt. With the ability to show its almost dance-pop face, of the three it is the one with the most artistic solutions. The final From Now is the gem that enchants: full of pathos coming from the Belgian Coldwave clouds, it presents an assumed softness, a devilish grin that is deceived by the cadenced vocals, while the music is a hiss in the brain and the bass the hammer that paralyses the limbs the moment they try to dance. A work that will become salt-stained honey...
