My Review: Data Fragments - Live Sessions

 Data Fragments - Live Sessions

How strange: a civilisation as old as Greece is producing music that looks back to the eighties and nineties as if there was nothing before. Not a problem, because in the case of the magnificent Data Fragments great is the joy, the satisfaction, the mass of enthusiasm that covers this Live Ep that precedes the forthcoming album.

Two tracks are new (the first two) and they show us a shrill, catchy, fast and orgasmic brilliance, a crime of Post-Punk and Darkwave tangles with a high expressive content. They are in great shape and their sound has become more mature, as what permeates the songs is an ease in incorporating new solutions.

Addiction is a gentle, dramatic and tormented wound, supported by a synth with generous sides of 80s strains.

The Endgame seems an unrepeatable chance to give Post-Punk the redemption it deserves, given how it has lacked freshness lately. The band grabs him by the throat and punches him to wake him up, doing so with a guitar that is a crime full of love, floating and murderous.

The two pearls taken from the eponymous first record live on fragments given by controlled feedback, for a result charged with gothic adrenalin...
